Lady Cats hold on for huge 13th District victory over Lady Rebels

The Franklin-Simpson Wildcats built a big lead in the 3rd Quarter and held on for a 47-45 13th District victory at the Todd County Central Lady Rebels this past Friday night.

The game was tied twice in the 1st Quarter as Katelyn Mcalister connected on a 3-pointer and Kloie Smith scored the final five points that tied the game at 10-10. Malyea Partinger scored eight points in the 2nd Quarter with McAlister and Jasmine Savage each knocking down a 3-pointer that gave the Lady Cats a 26-22 lead at intermission.

Savage continued to fill it up from beyond the 3-point line as she drained two more in the 3rd Quarter. Smith added five points as Franklin-Simpson led by 11, 42-31 at the end of the quarter. Ashanti Johnson and Partinger each scored a basket early in the 4th Quarter, making the score 46-34. The Lady Rebels outscored the Lady Cats 11-1 down the stretch as Franklin-Simpson couldn’t put them away at the free throw line but played tough defense in the final minute to come away with the 47-45 victory  over Todd County Central.

Partinger led the Lady Cats with 13 points with Smith adding 10.

Alexis Taylor and Abby Williams led all scorers with a game high of 17 points for the Lady Rebels.

The Lady Cats will play the Russellville Lady Panthers twice this week. Their first game will be at the F-S Gym on Tuesday night with tip-off time scheduled for 6:00 p.m. WFKN Radio will broadcast the girls/boys’  doubleheader starting at 5:50 p.m.
