The Franklin-Simpson Wildcats’ Cheer Team are heading to Orlando, FL this weekend to compete in the UCA (Universal Cheerleading Association) national competition.
Last season in this competition, the team finished in the top 20 nationally in the small gameday division and were awarded as national champions.
According to head coach Brooklyn Holder, the goal is to improve and have a better placement than last year. A national championship with a top 10 finish is the ultimate goal but overall, she just wants the team to give it their best and go as far as they can in the competition.
The team is coming off a top 10 finish at KHSAA state competition in the small gameday division and are looking to use the momentum of that performance to once again become a national champion.
The Wildcats’ Cheer Team consists of seniors Kira Coleman and Sydney Nickolson; juniors: Malachi Allen, Payton Blakemore, River Himschoot, Ellie Kirby, Maura Law and Alivia Mandrell and freshmen: Hallie Callis,Ella Evans, Lexi Gregory, Leah Henderson, Chloe Kirby and Ashley Phillips. Cheer Team coaches are Brooklyn Holder and Kighlee Caudill.
