Franklin-Simpson Middle School celebrated 8th Grade Night in fantastic fashion as the Wildcats defeated the Logan County Cougars 62-25 this past Monday night at the F-S Middle School Gym.
8th grade basketball players honored were: Tytus Atkins, Caden Breward, Marcos Cardenas, Jahmir Brooks, DeVontrae Caldwell, T.J. Camron, D’Shawn Fugate, Jayden Grover, Zay Hampton, Kason Himshoot, Ayden Jones, Easton Kelly,Brody McAlister, Brody Perry, J.C. Robey, J’Quise Smith, Jacob Spears and Braylon Turner. They are coached by Cailyn Hogan with assistant coaches Rayco Bryant and DeMarco Chatman.
In the 1st Half, the Wildcats had seven players that scored. Hampton scored five points along with four points each from Brooks and Fugate in the 1st Quarter. McAlister, who knocked down two 3-pointers in a row, scored eight points in a row during the 2nd Quarter as Franklin-Simpson led 39-11 at recess.
Hampton scored five points in the 3rd Quarter along with Atkins scoring four as the Wildcats continued to pad their lead. Grover scored four points with Perry connecting on a 3-pointer in the 4th Quarter as Franklin-Simpson celebrated 8th Grade night in a very exciting way with a 62-25 victory over the Logan County Cougars.
The Wildcats will compete in the season ending 13th District Boys’ Basketball Tournament hosted by Russellville High School on Saturday.
