After suffering a home loss to the Russellville Panthers this past Wednesday night, the Franklin-Simpson Wildcats’ basketball team got some “get back” as they defeated the Panthers 50-39 on Russellville’s Homecoming Night.
Both teams played evenly in the 1st Half as they both forced shots and created turnovers. Demarcus Hogan scored a game high of seven points for the Wildcats as did Octavius McKeage for the Panthers. Gabe Jones, who buried a 3-pointer, scored five points as the game was tied at 19-19 at halftime.
Franklin-Simpson made adjustments and came out of the locker room with Sam Mylor along with Hogan and Jones each dropping 3-point shots. Briscoe, who made four free throws, scored six points as the defense held Russellville to seven points in the 3rd Quarter for a 36-26 lead. Briscoe added four points in the 4th Quarter with O.J. Gamble and Hogan each scored a bucket. Jones and Mylor combined to make all six free throws down the stretch as the Wildcats defeated the Panthers 50-39 for their victorious “get back” game.
DeMarcus Hogan scored a game high of 14 points with Jalen Briscoe and Gabe Jones each adding 12 points for the Wildcats.
Octavius McKeage also scored a game high of 14 points as he was the only player that scored in double figures for the Panthers.
The Wildcats will play at the Barren County Trojans in a match up of two of the top teams in the 4th Region on Tuesday night. Tip-off time is scheduled for 7:20 p.m. and WFKN will broadcast the game immediately following the girls’ game that is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m.
