Wildcats’ big 2nd Half run defeats the Patriots 62-50

After a slow start in the 1st Half, the Franklin-Simpson Wildcats sped up the tempo in the 2nd Half for the 62-50 victory over the Allen County-Scottsville Patriots last night at the F-S Gym.
The Wildcats got off to a slow start as O.J. Gamble made their only field goal in the 1st Quarter as they trailed 8-5. Mathias Dickerson opened the 2nd Quarter with a traditional three-point play that tied the game and Gabe Jones scored four straight points that gave Franklin-Simpson the lead. Jalen Briscoe added a baseline 3-pointer and Cole Sharer’s 3-pointer at the buzzer gave the Wildcats a 23-15 lead at halftime.
In the 2nd Half, the Wildcats quickened the pace of the game and scored 10 straight points from the start of the 3rd Quarter for an 18-point lead. 33-15. In the 4th Quarter, Jones, who made three 3-pointers, scored 11 of Franklin-Simpson’s 13 points early in the 4th Quarter that gave them their biggest lead of the game at 24 points, 57-33. Jones scored a game high of 21 points with Briscoe adding 18 as the Wildcats went on for the 62-50 victory over Allen County-Scottsville.
The Wildcats will play at the Todd County Central Lady Rebels in an important 13th District game on Friday night. Tip-off time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. with WFKN Radio broadcasting the game immediately following the girls’ game of the varsity doubleheader.
