Wildcats’ Dance Team is ready for DTU Nationals

The Franklin-Simpson Wildcats’ Dance Team are heading this weekend to Orlando, FL to compete in the DTU (Dance Team Union) national competition.

The tram competed in the same competition where all teams of all sizes competed against each other. This year, the competition will be split into large and small team divisions. The team will be competing in the small team division where according to head coach Lauren Hall, the team is one of the larger teams that will be competing in the small team division. Hall feels like that should give her team an advantage in the competition.

The team’s goal is to qualify for the finals and Hall feels like that id they do qualify for finals, theory have a great chance of high scores and placement with potentially being a national champion possibly in two divisions.

The team will be performing two routines: hip hop and pom. The team is coming off a pair of strong performances at KHSAA State dance competition where they competed against all teams of size. In the Hip Hop division, they finished in the top 10 but in the rankings, they were the second highest ranked small team and in the Pom division, they finished in the top 15 and were the sixth highest ranked small team. .

The Wildcats’ Dance Team consists of seniors Makenna Delk and Brea Farmer; juniors: Kennedi Alexander, Leah Gardner, Noah Smith, Charlotte Vaughn and Ella Watwood; sophomores Macey Cook and Gracie Fairman and freshmen: Alivia Antle, Ali Cruz and Addison Vice. Dance team coaches are Lauren Hall and Jessi Profitt.
